n: (MD) the total length of the wellbore, measured in feet along its actual course through the earth. Measured depth can differ from true vertical depth, especially in directionally drilled wellbores. Compare true vertical depth.

n: the distance measured along the path of the wellbore (i.e. the length of the drill string).
